Trasop or Trasopp?

Both. The Norwegian Mapping Authority (Kartverket) has approved Trasopp as the name of the residential area, while the school, the sports park and Statistics Norway use Trasop. Both are pronounced the same.

Why a double p makes sense

The Oslo city encyclopedia reads the name as «tra opp», an encouragement to walk or drive up the hill. That makes the double p the natural spelling, and it is the one the street names have used since the 1930s.

The single p has still won in everyday use, because it is what the school and the statistics use. This site uses Trasop, and trasopp.no leads here.
